FAQ’s
Here you can find answers to commonly asked questions. If you don’t find the answer you are looking for then please contact me.
- Q. What materials do you use?
- A. It depends! Ornamental pieces like trail maps are printed in PLA, which offers more colours and a smooth, matte finish. Structural parts are made from PETG, a stronger material that resists heat and impacts better. See below for more details.
- Q. If PETG is stronger, why not use it for everything?
- A. PLA is easier to print, available in more colours, and has a premium matte finish. For decorative pieces, it works perfectly—just keep them out of direct sunlight or heat sources, as PLA can warp at high temperatures. PETG is used where extra durability is needed.
- Q. Are your prints durable?
- A. Absolutely! Every print is designed with longevity in mind. Multicolor prints (except relief maps) are printed as a single, bonded piece for added strength. I also personally test my designs for months to ensure quality and durability.
- Q. What 3D printer do you use?
- A. My main printer is a Bambu Labs P1S, which allows for high-quality, multicolor prints and has transformed my workflow. I also use a Bambu Labs A1 Mini for single-color, smaller prints to maintain production efficiency.
- Q. How long does delivery take?
- A. I aim to keep at least one of each standard product in stock for immediate shipping, but demand varies. Since I print to order, most products are ready within a day. A typical trail map takes 6 hours to print. Expect delivery within 5-7 working days, but if you need it faster, just send me a message. If delays arise, I’ll provide an estimated timeframe.
- Q. Do you offer custom prints?
- A. Yes! Whether it’s a custom trail map, relief map, or other design, just reach out with your request, and I’ll provide a quote.
- Q. Can you create maps of other trail centers or mountains not listed on your site?
- A. Yes! I started with the most popular locations but can expand upon request. Designing each print takes time, so I focus on demand, but I’m happy to create custom GPX route maps—just ask.
- Q. Why don’t you include every trail in a trail center (e.g., blue, red, and black)?
- A. I select the most iconic or popular trails to keep the design clean and high-quality. Some trails run close together, which can make the print too intricate or cluttered. If you’d like a specific trail added, let me know—I may be able to modify an existing design for a small fee.
- Q. Why are all elevation profiles red?
- A. I wanted a standardised look across all maps, allowing them to be displayed neatly together. Red is commonly associated with GPX routes and Strava, making it a fitting choice. However, I can customize colors upon request—just reach out!
